Hunting the elusive Zhu Zhu and other Christmas fun..

» Posted on December 27, 2009

I had just gotten a good chuckle over the facebook status updates from my mommy friends who were busy chasing them all over kingdom come when Paige announced that she too would be asking Santa for a Zhu Zhu pet for Christmas this year.  “Do you even know what a Zhu Zhu is?” I demanded?  “Yes, Sabree has one and it farts!” she said exclaimed… and so my hunt was on.  From trolling the classified ads on KSL.com every hour to having my friend stalk CVS pharmacies in San Diego until she found the accessories I wanted, it consumed a lot of my time this season.  I think I realized things had gotten out of control when I found myself buying a sweater I didn’t need or want in the Childrens Place so I could do a zhu zhu deal out in the parking lot.  That was when I called Mike and admitted that I was an addict.  He held an intervention, assured me that he loved me, that it was for my own good, and please please stop buying accessories, he was running out of room to hide them.

And so my obsession came to an end.  The girls loved what they got, and Mike, as a reward for my sheer will power to get off the crack pipe, bought me my very own little yellow Zhu Zhu.  His name is Nugget.

We had a great Christmas, and a house full of loved ones, from my dear brother in law, Jason, who was brave enough to face the crowds at the mall with me, to my dad, who I haven’t seen at Christmas time since I was much younger.  Rest assured, blog readers, that while we were very happy to have him, he was  still just as anxious to prove how “not cold” he was in the seven degree weather we are having as he was when we were little and lived in Wisconsin.  So anxious in fact that he ran out of the house this morning without shirt or shoes in the snow to grab something out of the car.  So neighbors of West Jordan, please do not be alarmed because you think you may have seen a half naked santa sized man with a handle bar mustache instead of a beard running on our lawn, it was just my dad.. Aahh, the holidays.

Please stay tuned, I have big blog plans this week, retiring my lucky shoes, showing off my new macro lens and trying to put together a best of 09 slideshow!!!  Merry Christmas!!

It was a very fun day and has been a fun holiday season. It amazes me how much things change as you get older. Christmas sure doesn’t feel the same as it use to but the excitement is now living it with the girls. A big thanks to Carrie for making it all possible and for all the time and energy that she put into making it a special day. I love Carrie with all my heart. Thanks baby!
