Room Service

Salt Lake Wedding PhotographerSo there I was, newest trained waitress at the Olive Garden, working my first weekend shift, and I was sucking at it.  Badly.  I forgot orders, refilled drinks with the wrong brown soda, left plates piled up on peoples tables and had to hold back angry retorts when people asked for second and third helpings of soup.  I had had it, I was about to try and sneak out the back door and hope no one would notice, when I realized it.  My night was getting easier.  Someone was helping me.  Water was being refilled, bar drinks were going out and I was pretty positive I hadn’t brought out that boat of alfredo sauce to the heavy lady drinking a diet coke even though she had asked for it twenty minutes ago… I hung back, waiting to see my  helper elf, and suddenly there he was, dressed all in black, sneaking out from the bar, clearing my tables.  It was Mike.  I was drowning and he noticed, and he wordlessly came in and helped me.  When he wanted to go out a few days later, it was easy to say yes, because  you see, after that  I already sort of loved him.  That was ten years ago last month and nine years ago, we got married.  We celebrated a couple of days ago.  We didn’t eat at the Olive Garden, no sense making some poor waitress run all over the place remembering our requests.  We ordered room service at the Hotel Monaco. Grilled cheese sandwiches, and a cup of roasted corn bisque.  It was perfect.  I love him.

And speaking of new love, my friend Marci got married!!  I was so lucky to have a front row seat as she married her sweet man.  Marce, I hope you enjoy your preview!Salt Lake Wedding PhotographerSalt Lake Wedding Photographer

Sorry that it took me so long to comment. Luckily, my well thought out plan had worked. I remember sitting there in the bar area working away and watching as this very attractive and likable individual was going through server training right before my eyes. I remember so well watching you as you were learning the ropes there before my eyes and I wondered how in the world I was going to get someone as funny, witty, and just all around amazing to go out with me. Maybe if I dulled your senses with some funny jokes? That didn’t work. Instead . . I watched and helped you out as much as I could from a distance. When I finally gathered the courage to ask you to go out, I was already prepared for you to turn me down. How my life has been filled with complete joy and fulfillment since that moment. Oh sure, we’ve had some rough times as everyone does but there’s nothing better than being with you. Sitting in the backyard last night playing baseball and running around with Paige and Mia reassured me of that. I love you!
