Soap Dispensers

» Posted on August 26, 2010

Have you seen the commercial for that new automatic soap dispenser?  The one that you simply wave your hand under the sensor and the appropriate amount of soap is spit onto your hand?  Look, the pitch on the commercial is that you don’t have to touch the very germy pump soap if you have the auto soap dispenser, but I am all, “who cares about touching a germy soap pump??  You are mere miliseconds away from washing the germs off, WITH SOAP!!”  I was so outraged by the sheer laziness of this idea that I even got into a mini debate with my friend Des about it.  Then last week Mike brought one home for the girls bathroom, bravely risking the torment I would heap upon him for his decision.  Let me tell you how my life has changed, readers!  I go out of my way to use the girls bathroom now!  It is luxurious.  And washing a toddlers hands that thousand times a day?  It has gone from a chore to a pleasure!  Simply wave your hand under and ”ziiip”, you have the perfect amount.  Last night I forgot about the dispenser and used our bathroom, and our old pump by the sink.  It was LABORIOUS, all that pumping!   AND I doubled up with hand sanitizer just to make sure I had rid myself of the soap pump germs.

Oh my hell! First of all-did you really just mention me on your blog? I almost peed a puddle of joy. And second-wasn’t I FOR the automatic soap dispenser? I can’t remember my stance on it but if I wasn’t FOR it before-I am now. Glad your enjoying it so much.

    p.s. Nice facial hair Mike;)

I’ve seen the commercial and had the same thoughts…how ridiculous! That must be for all the OCD people out there. Another example of just how lazy we all are. I think it falls in the same catagory as Crustables. Nice to know it actually works the way it says it works though. Happy hand washing! Love you Carrie!

Ahhh, so sweet of you to put a picture of me on your blog. I feel the same as Desiree that I made the blog. I’ll admit that it was a gamble when I picked up the dispenser. I wondered if the girls would test to see how many pumps it took to empty the thing but I haven’t found a drop of soap anywhere. It is so luxurious.

To Carrie – Thank you so much for being an example of a good parent to me. You have the patience I dream of having. I love you!

I LOVE YOU! I’m so glad I clicked over here for a visit. I needed this!

I can’t believe you haven’t had an automatic soap dispenser until now. We’ve had one for YEARS! I didn’t know they made bathrooms without them. But, I tell you, the calouses are still on my poor fingers from all that pumping!
